ELECSAR: REDEFINING ELECTRONICS LEARNING WITH AR SIMULATION
ElecSAR (Electronic Simulation with Augmented Reality) is an immersive mobile learning application designed to transform how students learn electronics in secondary schools. Targeting the “Electronic Design” topic within Malaysia’s Design and Technology (RBT) curriculum, ElecSAR combines Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) to deliver an interactive, simulation-based learning experience. It addresses the limitations of traditional methods—such as limited access to physical components, passive delivery, and lack of visual-spatial engagement—by enabling learners to build, manipulate, and test electronic circuits in a 3D virtual environment. The app comprises five core modules, including interactive teaching and learning notes, three AR-based simulations projects, 360° Virtual Reality project tutorials, and self-assessment quizzes. The Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) applied in the development process involving field experts yielded a strong consensus on its pedagogical alignment, curriculum compatibility, and usability. ElecSAR supports differentiated instruction and inclusive learning while promoting spatial reasoning and critical technical skills for future STEM careers. Aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, ElecSAR fosters equitable access to high-quality, technology-driven education and is commercially scalable as a nationwide AR-powered edtech solution. This innovation represents a paradigm shift in electronics education, driving Malaysia’s readiness for Education 4.0 and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
